The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) on Friday, declared that it has deferred the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school applicants, 2022 uncertainly.
This was affirmed in an announcement by WAEC Head of National Office, Mr. Patrick Ehidiamen Areghan, on Friday.
He said the assessment was delayed as a result of the fatal coronavirus.
The test was planned to start on April 6, 2022.
“This is because of the effect of the novel and fatal coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) and the genuine ramifications it has for the direction of the WASSCE for school applicants, 2022, combined with the tensions it has created among the masses.
“This choice is an exhibition of the association’s anxiety and backing for the different conventions being set up by the Federal and State Governments of Nigeria and the administrations of the other part nations to check the spread of the ailment.”
Areghan further expressed that the timetable for the assessment had been suspended and would be evaluated once the wellbeing circumstance improves.
