Before I proceed, The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the 2022 National Common Entrance Examination Results pegging the national cut off marks at 142.
Presenting the results to the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, the Registrar and Chief Executive of NECO, Godswill Obioma, said a total of 70,580 candidates sat for the examination nationwide, out of which 24,416 candidates passed, scoring a minimum of 66.
The minister announced that three students got the highest scores, Umeonyiagu Chinua Crucifixio, Anambra scored 199, Onwuamanam Udochukwu, Enugu scored 198 while Salaam Mariam Aderemilekun, Lagos scored 197 respectively.
He noted that a total number of 16,713 candidates were said to be absent from the examination due to the ENDSARS protests that rocked the country recently.
Adamu also stated that with the unity colleges now 110, admissions carrying capacity has been shored up to 26,625 for the current academic year, 720 slots were added with the establishment of six more Federal Science and Technical Colleges across the six geopolitical zones.
“As has been The tradition for decades, the admission criteria include 60% strictly on merit, 30% based on state’s representation in the unity colleges and the remaining 10% to cover other sundry considerations such as special needs candidates, gender, local community and biological children of teachers, PTA, SBMC and old students organization,”Adamu said.
“I have therefore, directed that within 72 hours of the receipt of the result, principals are to complete both the merit based (60%) and 30% equality of states admission.

In order to check your result, follow the six (6) simple steps below.

1. Log on to the new portal https://result.neco.gov.ng/. This old result portal is no longer in use http://www.mynecoexams.com/results/

2. Select your examination type: there is a drop down where you will select the type, click Oct/No
3. Select your year of examination i.e. 2022
4. Enter the result checking scratch card PIN number in the appropriate space according to the image above
5. Enter your examination number. This is important because you can’t access the result without the exam number
6. Now click on Check My Result button to access your 2022 NECO SSCE result.
These steps is still the same when you want to check your result for any exam year and exam type. The exam year and exam type are already in the drop boxes of NECO portal.
After checking your result, you can then email to your address or print your result.
Can I Access NECO Result Without Scratch Card or Pin?
NECO scratch card is very important if you want to check your result especially the serial number and the PIN at the end of the scratch card. The official price of NECO scratch card is N300 at NECO office.
You should bear it in mind that without the PIN from the scratch card, it is impossible to check your result. The image I included in this article suggest that the PIN from the scratch card is absolutely essential if you want to check your result.
Some of the reasons why you will experience access deny when checking it without scratch cards and pins is due to the fact that the card is an act to measure online security and have access to your result.
Therefore, candidates are expected to purchase the NECO scratch-card before proceeding to check their results online or through SMS.
NECO Result Grading System
Below is the new NECO grading system,
- A1 is Excellent,
- B2 Very Good,
- B3 Good,
- C4, C5 and C6 are interpreted as Credit,
- D7 and D8 are interpreted as Pass,
- while F9 is Fail.
A1 and B2 in the WASSCE means Excellent,
B3 is B (Very Good),
C4 is C (Good),
C5 and C6 are (Credit),
D7 and E8 are E (Pass) and F9 is F (Fail).
